The Baptist Student Union at Dartmouth

The Baptist Student Union (BSU) is a ministry of the Trinity Baptist Church of Hanover, and has been working with Dartmouth students since 1979. The BSU mission is to fulfill the following purposes:

-to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ to students, staff, and faculty;
-to help students understand their roles as Christians on campus, in their communities, and in today’s complex and often contradictory world;
-to provide Christian fellowship and recreation for all students;
-to provide missions opportunities around the world; and
-to encourage meaningful church membership.

BSU activities include a welcome luncheon at the beginning of each academic year, regular Bible study, hikes and day trips, a fall student picnic, a student Christmas dinner, participation in Operation Christmas Child and world hunger assistance programs, missions projects, and fellowship nights.

“In the midst of my fast-paced, exciting, stressful, hyperactive days and nights spent researching in the lab, typing papers, and studying for exams, it is a relief and a delight knowing that I can call upon my family away from home—Pastor and Mrs. Hale, Trinity Baptist Church, and my fellow BSU members—to feed me spiritually and emotionally, to believe in me academically, to provide avenues for helping those less fortunate, and to prepare a warm home-cooked meal to get me through the cold New Hampshire winters.”—Brenda Williams ‘03

“Imagine running a marathon. The BSU would be the people on the side giving you water for strength and cheers of encouragement so you can make it to the finish.”—Lloyd Burnett ‘04
