Our History

The Trinity congregation began in 1977 as a Sunday night home Bible study group in Hanover. By 1978, the group had moved to the Rollins Chapel, where it held services for the next year and a half. The congregation then moved to the Dartmouth Episcopal Student Center, where it remained until the mid-1980’s. In 1984, the church called Ken and Sandy Hale to the congregation. Then, with the help of members and donors, the congregation purchased a parcel of land on Route 10. The Trinity group, along with local and Southern volunteer builders, constructed the Trinity Baptist Church. The blessing of the new building enabled the congregation to secure a permanent home and thereby realize its vision to serve as the presence of Christ in the Upper Valley over the long term. Ken and Sandy Hale still lead the Trinity church family, and with their 20 years of continuous service, they are counted among the longest-serving ministers in the Upper Valley.
